“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross,
and follow me” (Matthew 16: 24).
Lent is a time to journey with Jesus Christ through the desert of forty
days. As the people of God departed from Egypt into the land of
Canaan, they had to journey through the desert. The “desert time” of
Lent calls us to journey with Christ to seek conversion and repentance
through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. During this Lenten journey,
we seek to die with Christ in the hope of rising with Him on Easter Sunday.
“We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. Because by your holy cross, you
have redeemed the world”.
