| The Metanoia Retreat is based on the Last Supper of our Lord and the great price and reward of committed discipleship. Twelve young adults of the Diocese will be invited to attend this 24 hour prayer experience, in which each will be asked to go deep into themselves and be present to the voice of God within. We will be using the rich traditions of our faith: Benediction, Adoration, meditation, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Saints, the Rosary and the Ignatius Spiritual Exercises, in order to reveal our calling as adults within our Church. At the end of this experience, each young adult will be asked to make a commitment to their home parish and will be asked to present themselves to the parish priest in order for their gifts to be used. Our hope is that this retreat experience will be a beginning of a new presence by these young adults in the daily life of the Church; they will encounter Jesus and have a personal “Metanoia” as well as be the conduits of a greater “Metanoia” of the local church. |

As we know, when we participate in a retreat, we often feel so moved to make changes, but we quickly find that it is difficult to keep the motivation once we leave the retreat center and those in which we had this experience with, that is why the retreats will be part of a gathering named - Manthano, who will re-gather every 12 weeks for fellowship and Catholic teaching. The word Manthano is defined as to learn by instruction, experience, to acquire a habit, and this is what the participation of this group will represent. The group of those who have experienced the retreat will meet each 12 weeks for fellowship, prayer and Catholic teaching in order to remain strong within their parish. This total experience of conversion and support will hopefully create strong Catholics within all parishes in the Diocese of Ogdensburg.
I am very happy that Fr. Al Hauser has committed to being our chaplain this year, and will be helping me to bring this ministry to young adults.
