Youth Leadership Program Planned
The Office of Youth Ministry is developing a Youth Leadership Program for young people interested in becoming youth parish and community leaders.
The program, which will be called the Catholic Youth Corps, is designed to train youth leaders to work in their parishes and communities promoting the Gospel message to Love God and to love and serve others. The training sessions will occur bi-annually at the Guggenheim Center and Wadhams Hall.
Catholic Youth Corps Program details will be sent to parishes and will be online in January.
Youth Rallies/Camp Reunions Planned for 2009
The Office of Youth Ministry announced plans for two Youth Rallies and Camp Reunions to be held in the late winter and early spring of 2009. A rally will be held in both Watertown and Plattsburgh in order to reach as many young people as possible. The theme of the rallies is Renew, Revive, Reunite. The rallies will include a Sunday Mass, lunch, music, speakers and more. Camp Guggenheim and SportsCamp staff members will be in attendance and there will be plenty of time to reconnect with camp friends, staff members. Jim Lundy, Diocesan Director of Youth Ministry, commented, “The idea of a gathering to reunite with friends came directly from the campers. They wanted to reconnect with their friends and staff. NCYC in Kansas City November 19—21, 2009
The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is an exciting, biennial three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones.
The schedule includes general sessions and workshops addressing a wide variety of topics as well as opportunities for reconciliation, daily liturgy, and special activities such as concerts, a dance, and comedy club.
The thematic park is a unique venue incorporating traditional exhibits with interactive educational and recreational activities.
Today, NCYC draws 20,000+ youth and adults for three days of catechesis, prayer, service, and recreation.

Youth Advisory Council
The Office of Youth Ministry is forming a diocesan Youth Advisory Council. The council will assist the Office of Youth Ministry in planning youth events, the Youth Leadership Program, and other issues related to youth involvement in the diocese.
The Office of Youth Ministry invites each parish and Catholic high school to appoint one representative to serve as representative on the Diocesan Youth Advisory Council for a minimum of one year for a senior, two years for others.
Meetings will be held two times a year in various locations throughout the diocese. The council will have its own blog in order to share ideas and facilitate discussions and the flow of information.

The NCCYM is the largest adult conference for Catholic Youth Ministers in the country. It is sponsored biennially on even numbered years by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry in order to help form and transform adults ministering to youth in the Catholic Church. Thousands of youth and campus ministers, religious education leaders, performers and artists and volunteers from every level come together for four days of inspiring keynotes, challenging workshops, dynamic prayer and worship, helpful networking, extensive resources, and good-hearted entertainment.
