What is CORE?
CORE is a community of faith that gathers two or three times a year as a diocesan group and three or four times a year in regional groups.  The purpose of the gatherings is to provide a place where catechetical leaders can share faith, support one another and pursue opportunities for professional, as well as personal, growth and development.

What is Diocesan CORE?

Diocesan CORE meets two times a and offers an overnight option for participants. Guest presenters are invited to these special events so members, and sometimes guests, retreat to deepen their spirituality and knowledge base in the faith. There are very special times when an additional day-long Diocesan CORE gathering is offered and non-members are invited to participate in an ongoing formation opportunity.

What is Regional CORE?

Each Christian Formation Office hosts several gatherings throughout the year. The gatherings are designed to meet the needs of those gathered in each region and offer opportunities for quality sharing, learning about the most current issues in catechesis, as well as networking with others involved in parish catechetical ministries.

Who are members?

It is expected that parish Catechetical Leaders will join and participate in CORE events on either the Full Membership or the Initial Membership level. Youth Directors, RCIA Directors, Pastoral Associates and others involved in parish catechetical ministries are also invited to join. CORE enables us to think and function as professionals in the parish programs, whether full or part time, volunteer or paid. Parishes need professionals who are committed to staying informed about the most recent catechetical documents, and who are eager to continue their growth in the faith.

What are the levels of membership?
Initial Membership is for Regional CORE and the cost is $30. If you choose this option and then decide you want to participate in Diocesan CORE gatherings, there is an additional charge of $35.00 for each.

Full Membership is for both Diocesan and Regional CORE gatherings. The cost is $100.00. The parish is requested to cover the cost of CORE for the catechetical leader’s membership.

Who coordinates CORE?

CORE is coordinated by a Steering Committee that is comprised of the Director of Christian Formation, the three Regional Directors, the Director of Youth Ministry and one elected regional representative from each of the three Christian Formation Regions.

How do I Join CORE?

Information is sent to Pastors during the summer months so they are kept informed about what CORE has to offer. Your pastor may pass it on to you. Registration information is also sent to Catechetical Leaders, Youth Ministers and Pastoral Associates, All you need to do is speak with you pastor and then complete and mail your registration according to the instructions on the form.
