Why Catholic?

Ask yourself today…”Why am I Catholic?”   How do you answer yourself?  Do you ever come short of a good explanation, especially if you needed to tell a friend or a child just why you are Catholic?   We should think about being Catholic as something special.  Your faith is a gift and you should know why.   Something great is coming our way.  It is called “Why Catholic?”.   You will find answers to many questions as to why Catholics believe as they do and be more confident in speaking about our Catholic faith.

Here is something to spark your memory.   Do you recall your early formation as a Catholic? How much do you remember?  Are you comfortable speaking about your faith? Think about this…”What happened to you when you were baptized?”  Or “Why do you attend Mass each Sunday and on holydays?  Something spectacular is coming our way…it is called ! “Why Catholic?”     Watch for it!

It is extremely important how parents answer their children’s questions about the Catholic Faith.  The parent’s answer will affect the way the child responds to the faith.   When your child questions:   Was I born Catholic?   What is the large white object the priest raises up for all of us to see?  Why do we call God “Our Father”!  .Why… why….why?  We need to know the answers.   “Why Catholic?” is coming our way.     This is where you will find the truth...the answers you need to know.   “Why Catholic?”  is for you.  Watch for it!

The perpetual longing in the hearts of Catholics to become holy is part of our heritage. No wonder!  It is God who calls us to become holy.  He created us in His image.
