| 1.) How do you invite the Bishop to an Eagle or Gold Award Ceremony?
The procedure to invite the Bishop of Ogdensburg Mail to: Attn: Diocesan Scout Chaplain The invitation should include: -full name and address of the Scout If the Bishop is unable to attend and if scheduling permits, the Diocesan Scout Chaplain or a designee will attend the Court of Honor / Ceremony to extend the Bishop’s greeting and recognition if possible. 2.) How are the Religious Emblems Presented? Upon completion of the religious emblems program all Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are entitled to a three-fold recognition:1) DIOCESAN RECOGNITION– at the annual Diocesan Scout Mass, on the third Sunday of October each year – presentation of the medal by our Bishop or his designee. 2) PARISH RECOGNITION– by the pastor and usually at a Sunday Liturgy at a time determined by the pastor and parent – presentation of the parent pin and the pocket card for the Boy Scouts and presentation of the certificate for the Girl Scouts. 3) TROOP RECOGNITION– presentation of the religious emblem knot (obtained by the Scout Leader) for the Boy Scouts at a unit function. (Only one religious emblem knot is given to a Scout. Therefore, if they have received the knot for a previous religious emblem program award, only recognition is given – a knot is not presented.) The Girl Scouts do not have a religious emblem knot, etc. but with consultation with the Scout Leader, the girls could be recognized at a troop function/breakfast, etc. A Scout is Reverent – Faithful to their Religious Duties 3.)
