The Ogdensburg Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting has been awarded the "Quality Diocesan Committee Award" by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting
The Region 2 Chairman Ed Winterkorn informed Sister Mary Rita Kempney, SSJ, Diocesan Director of Catholic Scouting, of this high honor.
This award was earned because of the committee's continued working relationship with the scout units of the diocese, the other diocesan committees within their region, and the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
The Diocesan group promotes and presents the Boy and Girl Scout Religious Emblems, and trains new Emblems Counselors.
The members also organize a Day of Reconciliation and a Catholic Scout Retreat each year for the scouts of the diocese.
The committee works closely with the youth ministry, evangelization and vocation programs of the diocese. A member of the diocesan committee, Tom Higman, has just finished his first year at the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.
The Committee also has a good working relationship with the Knights of Columbus and some of the member of the Knights.
